Soren after hearing the rules and his team's mission he would take off from the docks and land on the island turtle on the west side. As he made his way onto it he would notice the landscape, the turtle was huge. Believing the name Island turtle to be appropriate he would start moving through the forest/jungle bit of the turtle that his team decided to go on.
He would while running make one of his Omnibuki Dougu a katana, and the other a bow. Setting their shapes correctly, he would put the bow and katana where he could get to them. After doing so he would grab a fallen log as they ran and would use his chakra to shave and cut it to create 20 straight arrow shafts and a quiver to put them in.
After doing so he would put chakra feathers and chakra tips onto the arrow shafts to make his work complete.

At times like these, Shota was able to utilize his skills the most. His teammate, Soren, had decided to run straight towards the head of the beast. But Shota reached out to him before they arrived, placing a hand on his shoulder. He held a finger to his lips before settling onto a thick branch. He needed time to prepare and now was as good a time as any.
He stood, closing his eyes and focusing. While it may have seemed that he was making himself defenseless, he was actually being very observant. Bugs flew from his body, completely silent. They scattered about in every direction, making a point of being unnoticed. This was a stealth operation, something the Aburame specialized in. While it wasn't Shota's personal favorite, he was still an Aburame.
The bugs spread through the Island Turtle, making themselves scarce and noticeable. Being completely silent and very minuscule, not many would notice them and even fewer had the ability to discern what type of bugs they were. After all, they were Shota's personal bugs and weren't the same as the usual in his clan.
Taking a seat he waited as if he had something to do. He entered his mindscape, diving into the depths of his knowledge. He might as well make this an opportune time. A Genjutsu, that was what he needed to create. At the moment he didn't have full grasp of the technique but while he was sending out his friends he took the time to focus in on his chakra control.
He molded chakra around him, gathering it in a thin layer. That thin layer coated his body, giving him a blue aura. Once he gathered the chakra he channeled it around him, allowing thin chakra strings to spread from him. The strings extended, he the original source. The design was much like a spider web as his chakra expanded, covering a decent part of the forest. Once satisfied he slowly retracted the chakra, summoning it back to him. He had succeeded in the first part of learning his two new jutsu. He would have to be able to control his chakra to a fine point.
He looked at his team and nodded. It was clear. Now sure that there was no problem with moving forward, he took the lead in leading his team seeing as he felt he was best fit to lead the situation. At this stage he would have no choice but to use his abilities to his advantage. His bugs were already making their way throughout the island. With the ability to communicate with them long distance, he would have eyes all over the forest.
Armod would stand up when the proctor was finished and put Ulv back on his back and began to trot towards the turtle at a relaxed speed. He noticed his other Team mate lagged behind, was, in fact, sitting down and little insects were flying off of him and out towards the Island. ~That's right, he's an Aburame.~ He thought while turning back around. "I will watch your back for you if you need it Insekt Krigsherre." And then began to run again, towards the island. He understood his mission quite will, considering his profound skill of hunting and trapping from his homelands. He could bring a significant amount of defense to the field. He watched as Soren got onto the Island and headed out towards that direction and leaped onto it grabbing a tree, catapulting himself forward to the path that Soren was following until he was right beside him. "Soren, we need to find high ground. I will go a head to scope it out."
Soren while he was going along, his aburame teammate wanted to stop and setup something. This was indicated by grabbing his shoulder, as he glanced back he was met without even speaking to him. So Soren shrugged off Shota's hand, ignored him and kept on going, as he went through the forest unknowingly leaving his other teammate behind.
Soren would then hear Armod speak, saying he would scout out ahead. Soren would respond saying "Works for me, I'll scout to the south, meet back here in 10."
Without listening to a response he would start going out toward the south to scout out any teams. That might be coming there way.
Counting down the time until he had to return to where Soren had pointed out, he hadn't heard or spotted anything out of the ordinary so he began to place traps down to alert of any intruders and others that could dispatch wary enemies. Some he knew from when he was a child and others these fellow shinobi had taught him. When he was done with a few of them he went back, but he needed to go back to finish the rest.

His teammate ignored him, something that didn't really bother the Aburame. If his teammate wanted to fend for himself then that was fine, he better have not expected the Aburame's help from this point on. The Aburame, however, chose to settle into one of the trees, seeing what the other teams had to offer. Collecting information was fast with the psionic connection he had with insects. He could speak to them over a long distance without any trouble, something that would bode him extremely well. Now the only problem was to finish the training he needed.
He close his eyes once more as he sat down, focusing on his flow of chakra. As he did bugs flew from him, creating an exact replica of himself. As his bugs were already closely connected to him, it wasn't hard for him to channel his chakra into them and control the flow of chakra. Focusing on his chakra control he molded his chakra around the insect, not strengthening it but adding an effect for when it would break. It was best to test it now. He opened his eyes and look at the insects. It seemed that the jutsu was actually working.
He scrunched up his nose as another clone formed, this one without the chakra funneling. He focused, retracting the chakra from the other clone. Once he was done he slowly allowed his chakra to seep, the string like chakra seeping from Shota to his two clones. Yes, it seemed that the jutsu was indeed working, his well controlled chakra aiding him. When he was certain that it was working he struck one of the clones before giving his bird instructions. Two seconds later he was nodding his head, satisfied with the outcome. Now he would need to master it.
Soren after a bit of scouting would make sure that while he was doing so, would continue to create arrows the same way he did before. Trying to up the speed in which he does so, just in case he needs to conserve chakra.
Soren would find no one around that he could see where he was. So without further ado, with a full quiver and his weapons by his side he went back toward his team.
After a couple of minutes he dropped dropped onto a branch where he was to meet Armod. He would speak to him by saying "Find anyone?"
Armod would walk out of the under growth with out a sound, "Not one soul, I have seen a few of Shota's bugs flying around, though. Perhaps we should find him?" Armod would sit down and begin to clean his sword waiting for Soren to contemplate what to do.
Soren would nod to himself as he took in the information that Armod procured. Thankfully there weren't many ninja teams near them, so they might be able to set up traps and stuff. Remembering that Armod was good with traps and the such, he would think how they would set up the traps themselves.
Soren himself could make trip wire out of chakra, but it glowed slightly and was therefore not very good for use. This was also apparent with every other trap he could think of, besides some bear traps. However he was not a Nagahara for nothing he would improvise and think cleverly to produce a result.
Thinking it over, Soren devised a way to decimate any ninja that would come near the location he might be defending. Though due to him being a Genin didn't really give him access to a plethora of jutsu to use. However he still could use Earth to a great ability so there was that at least.
So without further ado Soren would say to Armod "Might want to collect him, he might be scouting himself. Afterwards I think it would be a good idea to make haste to our destination so we have more time to set up. I know you can make better traps than I can at the moment, and I have a few ideas to help with defense. So lets get going." Soren would then head out toward their other teammate
Armod would grunt and put his sword away and got up. "I have a thing or two under my belt...from my father and my other kin." He smiled to himself and looked back up at Soren. "Aye, I'll go grab, him. He'll probably know when I'm coming before I get there."
He turned around and walked back into the wilderness. Scanning the area around him, the trees were close together in a few areas, but most of them were far apart and massive, with a thick growth of ferns and bushes between. He used the game trails around him and began to run through up and down small hills and over dead falls, eerily quiet with his movements. He expected the Aburame would be around close by and wanted to know what his plans were. They needed to get on the same frame of mind to be a team and set differences aside.
He would slow to a slow walk again and notice that there were a few bugs around, but couldn't be sure if they were the right bugs. He might be getting close...
Soren would nod to Armod and reply "Then I will go on ahead, I will keep going west till I hit the forest edge, I will meet you and Shota there. Good luck."
With that Soren would head off toward the west, hopefully toward the head of this beast he was traveling on. As he continued to go through the trees making sure to keep a wary eye out on his peripheral vision to see if anyone is following him.
He eventually gets to the meeting point, where he can see the massive head on the horizon. The tree line ends at what seems to be a rocky plain about a mile from the treeline. However what Soren doesn't realize is that this rocky plain is in fact the end of the Island turtle's shell at this part.
Soren would meditate in a tree, keeping his senses to the maximum except for sight. This also allows him to think better, and easier thinking up any strategies that his team might need to defend the head of the island Turtle.
"It seems the head has been captured." A dull voice would call out to Soren and Armod from a rustling bush. From the rough leaves of the bush came out Powa with a thumbs up in front of him with his right hand, and his left in his pocket. "Good job at winning this part of the exams. Please proceed to a stadium hidden in the center of the Island." And with those final words he disappeared in a cloud of smoke only to seek out the next Genin team.
Soren would see the proctor come from a bush as he directs Soren and his teammate Armod to the stadium. After Soren nods would look over at Armod (Saying that you arrived with me, Luke hasn't been on in two days) and say "Well another test passed it seems, wonder what the next one is, hmm?"
He says this as he gets up from his meditating position and heads to where the proctor told them both to head towards.
Soren would move rapidly, not really knowing why Shota chose to stay behind. Thinking that the proctor would tell him, that his team passed and he would arrive after them.
With the smoke still clearing, Armod was surprised to hear that they had passed without even doing anything to defend themselves. He was frustrated at this, but shrugged it off and grunted at what Soren asked and began to walk along beside Soren. On a positive stand-point, the team was still strong and unencumbered by any fighting or physical strain. They would be well rested and ready for the next phase of this exam. He clenched his fist focusing the flow of chakra. If he allowed himself to go all out, he could break any shield, plus the arm beneath and kill the person behind it if he was going fast enough...he released the flow and unclenched his fist, his muscles going back to normal. He was satisfied, ready for the next exam.
