Kanon would look to her side as Amarant came from the wall, matching her long strides. She hadn't seen any gaurds yet, and in fact, she had not seen anyone at all. She felt shivers up her spine as she continued onward towards their goal. She would keep in the shadows for now, in case anyone should arrive out of no where, but there was no sign of life behind the large wall. She breathed lightly, continuing her long strides.
As they came to their destination, Kanon stopped to listen to her surrounding world, but she could hear nothing but the faint, faint sounds of the outside towns. She looked at the house ahead. It was guarded by a large cast iron gate, something easy to get over. Her eyes averted away from the gate and to the front door, which in her surprise, was wide open. She stood for a moment in amazement.
She looked over to Amarant, her eyebrows raised with suspicion. "This, is too easy." Her statement was almost begging for a more exciting adventure. "Amarant, have you noticed something strange about this place?" She looked around again at the scene surrounding them. It was so out of place, so secluded and it felt like a ghost town, or some different dimension where there were no people. 'What did that old man get us into?' The thought popped in her head and she was sure that it wasn't a good thing.

Amarant followed Kanon throughout the empty house. The quiet, almost gothic like feeling that it gave off interested him. In truth he would love to live in a place like this. So secluded and cut off from the outside world. While he wasn't exactly a loner he could grow to appreciate the quiet for periods of time. He did feel that Kanon was bringing up a important point. Some action wouldn't hurt but he wasn't exactly complaining. Sometimes an easy job is better because other times things may get out of hand and as thieves they weren't as prepared for battle as others but at least someone giving chase would give them something to do.
"Can't say it's a bad thing this is going easily, but what kind of a place has guards at the gate but not inside. More or less what are they even protecting at this point, this is like a Ghost House"
Amarant would reply crossing his arms as he looked around the room they were in. He would look around for something out of the ordinary. The more he thought about it the more he slowly became paranoid to the whole operation.

As she entered the house, she felt a cold chill run down her spine. How she wished she was wearing her regular clothing and not a dress of all things. She let out a soft sigh and walked through a wall way filled with pictures of an old woman. There were dozens of pictures and each picture seemed to be staring at her. She shook her head and looked forward down the long narrow path. She could see the outline of a picture though the darkness made it hard to see the picture itself. 'This keeps getting worse and worse.' The thought popped up in her head and she quickly shook it off. It wasn't like she was afraid of ghosts or anything.
As Amarant spoke she stopped and put her head down. She felt her face go hot as fear swirled its way up her spine and into her throat. She gulp and then took a breath, closing her eyes. 'Ghosts or no ghosts, you have a mission.' Once again her sub- conscious kicked in. She blew out a breath and opened her eyes, nodding her head to his statement. 'Just keep going.'
Suddenly, as she took her first step forward, she heard a loud bang and the walls seemed to shake around her. She knew by the sound that the door had slammed, and that there was no turning back. She stopped for a moment, feeling like she wanted to scream and jump right out of her skin, but she remained calm, her face serious, and determined. "Let's go." Her voice was firm as she walked on.

The Darkness was something that Amarant was used to. In his old time as a ninja he commonly worked security like jobs at nighttime. This would also help him in his time as a thief, he learned to work out of the shadows as well as in the darkness. In his time with Tantalus this factor improved very well. He was almost comfortable in the darkness as his eyes quickly adjusted so he could see his way around fairly easy. He hoped that through their work here and in the future Kanon would also be able to develop this trait when it came to working in the dark as most of their operations tend to take place under the moon's light at night.
He would almost speak to Kanon when he thought her resolve was shaking after the mention of ghosts. However he noticed her shake it off and began to follow her with his arms still crossed almost looking around expecting something out of the ordinary to happen given the scenery they had. Once again though he assumed he might have to guide Kanon through the mission as the door slammed. He expected her to at least be a tad bit frightened. Even if she was, she was doing a damn good job of pushing herself past it. Something that not everyone was capable of doing. Instead of having to offer words of support he would offer words to show her that she was leading the duo at this point.

Kanon heard Amarant and a smile grew upon her face. Unsure of why, she felt as though she became stronger with his words. She had expected words of advice or even sympathy, but he just gave her the lead. It ended up being the kind of support she needed. She stood tall and continued ahead, the picture waiting at the end was slowly becoming clearer. Soon she arrived in front of it and looked up only for a moment to see that same old lady and the old man she had received the job from standing together, both looking very cold, and distant from the world and each other.
The scene made her eyes widen slightly but she quickly averted her eyes and turned left around the only bend. They came to another, short narrow hallway also filled with pictures of the old lady. She continued on, now turning right and finally they arrived in a large, dark room, filled with cobwebs and scurrying mice. There was a set of elegant looking, but very dusty stairs and two doors on either side on the bottom. She looked up the stairs from the bottom and began making her way up. "If it's really that important, it'll be in the bedroom."
At that moment, she stopped, and turned her head towards Amarant. She gave him a wink and smiled slyly, her flirtatious personality allowing itself to come out. 'Glad I can feel at ease in this situation,' was the thought she thought as she turned and once again headed up the stairs.

As Amarant followed he too would be looking at the paintings. As he saw the first one with the old man and who he assumed was his ex wife he wanted to chuckle but instead kept it to himself. Even in the picture they were so distant from each other, perhaps they knew that their marriage was deteriorating. Even so, why keep it hanging. Amarant felt it would be like a bitter hinderance and like a constant shot to the leg. Possibly the house was just a statement to the old man who didn't have much anymore. The bitter sentiment was probably shared by the old man who hired Kanon and Amarant to steal from the house. Overall the house itself reflected the bitter, distant, and lonely sentiment. Clearly just like the people who once lived here together.
Amarant didn't usually like to take point on a mission, he mostly worked with Zidane and Yuna, the former's hyperactive personality forced him to want to take charge. He truly disliked working with Zidane or Yuna but he didn't dislike them, although he rarely admitted to that fack. Amarant preferred to work alone to call his own shots he didn't mind letting Kanon go ahead here. He felt that he would've made the same decisions she did so far. As she turned around and gave him the wink, while this was something more playful than she's already let on and similar to something Zidane and Yuna would exchange with each other he didn't find it annoying. He couldn't exactly say why either, perhaps Kanon would start to grow on Amarant. Only time would tell.

As they came to the top of the stairs, Kanon looked around, letting a breath escape her lips. There were so many doors to choose from, she just didn't know which would lead her to what she wanted. Her lips parted as her eyes looked around further, looking for a door that stood out, one that could possibly have been the door to the master suite. Instead of pondering, she began to open doors, first being led into a grand bathing room, and then to a bedroom. One too simple to be the master.
She continued opening and closing doors trying to find the one she needed. Finally she stopped, her eyes averted towards Amarant. There were only two doors left in the upper part of the house, and if they didn't find the scroll, then they would have to take a trip to the basement. She rolled her head and stretched out her arms. She felt rather bored by constantly chasing down door ways.
Soon she got back to work and opened one of the two remaining doors. There she stood infront of a large room. Her eyes widened as she saw the enormous room with a deluxe closet and an abnormally big bed. Her jaw dropped as she saw what was on the bed. It was the old woman from the photo. She had been dead for a very, very long time, yet she still had flesh on her bones. The corpse made her wonder if the old man knew that she was dead. She looked over to Amarant and put her hands on her hips. "Okay, we'll know the scroll when we see it. It has to be hear somewhere."

Amarant followed Kanon as she opened various doors, each one was met with disappointment. He was getting a bit tired of their surroundings, all the dust was starting to annoy him more and more as the time slowly went on. Amarant would observe the room very quickly. He was surprised that the woman was just left there, perhaps the loneliness and disconnect to her husband extended to the rest of the world as well. What a sad sad way to go was all Amarant could think as he began his search for the scroll. He would begin to look in the usual places such as drawers and into the closet, he would not find anything, he hoped that Kanon's search yielded results.
